Bob Zeller graduated with a BA in Biology, Summa Cum Laude with Distinction from Boston University. He spent his senior year in residence at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA working in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Whittaker, where he learned to work with ascidians. Next he traveled to the laboratory of Dr. Eric Davidson at Caltech where he received his PhD in Developmental Biology. Dr. Zeller was an NIH NRSA postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Diego with Dr. Mike Levine and then with Dr. John Newport. He has been a faculty member of the Embryology Course at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole since 1998 where he teaches the lecture and lab portion of the ascidian module of the course. Dr. Zeller has been at SDSU since 2001 and teaches a variety of courses including Bio203, Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology; Bio567, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology III and Bio576, Developmental Biology. Research in his laboratory is funded by the National Science Foundation.
