RESEARCH INTERESTS

1. Ecology of lacustrine plankton, with emphasis on the study of prey-predator, competitive and grazing interactions using experimental microcosms.

2. Ecology and restoration of the Salton Sea, California.

3. Limnology of saline lakes, with emphasis on their water chemistry, algae, ivertebrates, fish, and avifauna.

4. Ecology and conservation of the South American flamingos, with emphasis on their interactions with lakes of the Central Andes and Patagonia.

5. Statistics, experimental design, and mathematical ecology.

6. Antihotairism, with emphasis on reducing conceptual and methodological carelessness and hot air (other than my own) in ecology in particular and in human affairs generally.
