Amphibian Life Cycles
Amphibian metamorphosis
- Dramatic in anurans _ tadpole to adult.
- Essentially a complete restructuring of most morphological systems (e.g., skeletal, digestive, respiratory).
- Less dramatic transition in salamanders and caecilians.
- Larva are very similar to adults.
- Some changes do occur (e.g., skin, lungs in some, cranial and tongue).
