Liver involved with compressing and expanding the lungs.
- Liver is posterior to the lungs and acts as a “plunger.”
- Exhalation: Liver pulled anteriorly by abdominal muscles _ compresses lungs and forces air out.
- Inhalation: liver moved posteriorly by other muscles _ lungs expanded (=air flows in).
