ANNOUNCEMENTS
Colleagues: I thought you might
appreciate seeing this excerpt from a letter to President Weber written by a
parent of one of our students:
"As a parent of an
SDSU student and as a former college administrator, I want you to know that I
am praying for you during what I know are incredibly difficult times. My
son keeps me posted so I am aware of the furloughs, the attrition cuts, the
plans to reduce the size of next years class, and all the other issues that
have cost you more than a little sleep and that have temporarily derailed many
of your higher level plans and aspirations for the University. My wife
and I deeply appreciate your commitment to provide the best possible
educational experience for our son in the face of this crisis. Stay
strong and know that things will eventually get better. There are people out
here that both support you and respect your efforts.
I am very pleased that my son chose
SDSU. I want to remind you that you have a number of outstanding young
faculty and staff (I have both met and talked to many in the Biology
Dept.). Do your best to retain as many of them as possible and keep them
focused on their goals. All will be well in time. I have thought of
you often since you guided my son and I around your campus several years
ago. I haven’t forgotten your random act of kindness and the
genuine pride you showed for the institution. Know that we remain in your
corner and admire your leadership."
